THE PORTAL MAJOR UPDATE – OLTL SCREENCAPS & MEDIA

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated this site with Ted’s latest ONE LIFE TO LIVE episodes, and for that I’m sorry. I’m not sure if it’s totally understood how long it does take to record the episode, wait for it to convert to a workable format, screencap, edit screencaps, clip up the episode into Ted’s selected scenes and then finally to upload to the gallery and media site. On average it takes about two and a half hours to do so. When that two and a half hours is crammed into my private life, of which it has been calling me more of late with my 88-year-old mother being sick and taking care of her, spending time with my partner of 25+ years and the adoption of our new kitty, I’ve been pulled more towards home and that private time. I’ve needed it. So I’m going to ask one thing of my visitors, there’s no good thing in asking me when certain days are going to be up or when. I will update when I get that time. So I’m going to ask your patience regarding this. I haven’t forgotten this site or Ted’s work on the show. I adore Ted as a man first, actor second, and I’m sure he would want me spending that time with my family. I also want to say I created this site as the only fansite on the web dedicated to Ted. It is a labor of love for me alongside that of my fansites for Tamara Braun, Stephen Nichols, Mitch Pileggi and Diane Neal. With Tamara having just rejoined DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Stephen’s time on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS heating up for May sweeps, it’s going to get confusing in where to devote my time. So I have to do it across the board. What does that mean exactly? It means that I might have to bunch up episodes and only edit and clip on certain days, which means taking that two hours/two and a half hours per episode and devoting one or two days a week to get that job done. But again, some of my patrons requesting I do the work or when it’ll be up isn’t going to make me go any faster. I’m not an ATM, I’m human and a person who needs that private time to balance out all the other things I do in my web time. Which means updating this and my other sites. I know you love viewing Ted’s work…so do I quite frankly. Be patient is all I’m asking.

Here’s the goods……

OLTL UPDATE

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

I just wanted you to know I just got my computer back from the shop and I’m going to be trying to get Ted’s last two eppys done up tonight and online likely overnight. Fortunately, his is the only updates I need to do. Stephen Nichols hasn’t been on the last couple of days, so that will ease the workload significantly. Wouldn’t you know it, the first shirtless episode of Ted as Tomas and I didn’t have my damn computer to bring them to you! What are the odds on that one? I also have some press articles to get up that I’m hoping to get done tonight, if not tomorrow.

Loved Tomas today in not allowing Todd (Tevor St. John) to get to him. Ted’s doing an amazing job with this role and I’m loving the bohemian nature he’s embued Tomas with. I also love how he uses a scarf for a prop and the wild, spikey hair.

Just to let you know, I’m going to have to send my computer back to the depot for servicing. It’s unavoidable now. I won’t be posting in the early week next. They’ve told me it’ll take at least 2-7 business days for them to effect the repairs it needs and to send the system back to me. I’m hoping it’ll only take the 2 days. I’ll be a nutcase without. Depending on how many days Ted will be on next week will depend greatly on how fast I get caught up. Considering too that I’ll also have Stephen Nichols‘s work on Y&R to also catch up on, it might take me the better part of next week to get caught up. Sorry for any inconvenience this will cause. I guess for as long as my baby’s in the shop, I can get caught up on the Godzilla films I’ve yet to watch.

TED – 02/07/2011 ONE LIFE TO LIVE MEDIA

Monday, February 7th, 2011

That “squeeeeeeee” you hear is me! Finally we get a good view of Ted through a lighter set. That Paris studio did nothing for him. All I could say was, “Blair, for crying out loud. Let him in!” She finally did and the blue of the walls in Dorian’s living room just brought out the blue in Ted’s eyes. Swoooooooon. I’m still not liking the choppy way ONE LIFE TO LIVE is being done these days. While it takes THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS forever to tell a story, at least Stephen Nichols‘ scenes as Tucker McCall are longer than Ted’s and we get a little more grounding in terms of exposition. With the way OLTL is done, it leaves little for the viewer to actually sink their teeth into before they’re onto the next bit of action. My only suggestion to the powers that be at the show, settle down and tell a story. Don’t rush it. Allow the actors some time to breathe.

TED – 02/04/2011 ONE LIFE TO LIVE MEDIA

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

I usually like having these up on the day within about an hour or so of the airing, but I had some issues I had to deal with today. But here they finally are. Well, Tomas arrived in Llanview and may I say, he looks simply gorgeous. I love the glasses. Not sure if Ted actually needs them or if they’re part of the character. All I can say is they add a studious quality to Tomas. So far most of my favourite actors wear specs. Ted along with Mitch Pileggi and Stephen Nichols make them sexy as hell. Yep, think I’m gonna like Tomas…as long as he keep the glasses. Ted was in the preview for Monday’s episode and it is included in the clip.

Edited: I forgot to add this to the main post. As much as I’m sure that this pairing with Blair (Kassie DePaiva) will likely stir up the heat, I really do wish Tomas had been brought on for Kelly Cramer (Gina Tognoni). I really thought Gina would have been the better recast for Carly on GENERAL HOSPITAL when Tamara Braun left in 2005. Gina unfortunately was still under contract at GUIDING LIGHT as Dinah Marler. Instead we got Laura Wright who has totally digressed the character even further back than Sarah Brown’s version. If wishes were horses ….

TED – ONE LIFE TO LIVE 01/24/2011 & 01/25/2011 MEDIA

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

My apologies for not having the media up for yesterday’s episode, but again I was having converting issues with THE PORTAL MEDIA site. I finally was able to upload and have the full clip convert. So here’s the screencaps and clips for Ted’s last two days. The other issue I was having was with the recording program I use. I noticed once I had the screencaps for the 21st up they were really washed out and I’ve had to do a lot of tweaking with the settings to get a good quality recording with a warmer feel to the source for the screencaps and the clip. I tried doing this with test recordings from the show during the week before Ted’s debut, but until they showed his set, I couldn’t get a good handle on the colour and brightness. I record and clip and cap up Stephen Nichols work on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as uber tycoon Tucker McCall, and for some reason the way they tape the show it’s always warmer and I can get the setting perfect for perfect colour and effect. For some reason, I’m still having issues with Ted on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. I have a feeling until they actually bring him to Llanview and have him on some of the other sets that are brighter and more colourful, I’ll have to wing it day-to-day.

OKay, what’s the verdict? Do we like Tomas or not? I know I do. I love how quirky Ted is playing him. I don’t really think I’ve seen as quirky a character on any soap before. I don’t count Spinelli (Bradley Anderson) on GENERAL HOSPITAL because that’s just a little to way out there for me. I get the feeling he’s channelling Chad Lindberg who played Ash from SUPERNATURAL. You know Ash, “All business up front, party in the back.” But for me I love how Ted’s starting to build Tomas. I love the name too. Only the second Tomas I’ve loved. The other is Hugh Jackman’s Conquistador in Darren Aronofsky’s masterpiece, THE FOUNTAIN. When I heard the name I thought, “I love him already.” Yeah, I’m fickle. So do you love Tomas? About the only quibble I have with ONE LIFE TO LIVE so far is how quick the cuts are and how very short the segments are. One can’t get intimate with the characters or the scene due to how rapid fire they are. I guess I was spoiled back in the day on scenes like the gut wrenching courtroom scene with Judith Light when she played Karen Wolek when she told how she killed Marco Dane (the late Gerald Anthony) when Marco raped her. Ted’s scenes overall have been good, but I’d like to see some lanquishing a bit to get a feel for the character and a little longer exposition. THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS though takes its time to get a storyline told, is very good at giving us a little more grist to sink one’s teeth into. Okay, enough of my exposition. You want the goods…..

01/21/2011 – ONE LIFE TO LIVE MEDIA

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

I’ve finally been able to upload the media for Ted’s debut episode of ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Not much for a debut but the obligatory few second view. More on Monday. My guess is that it’ll be Ted’s actual first full day. Just a little sidenote, I regularly post to Dan J. Kroll’s SOAPCENTRAL.COM boards. Well he has a weekly Sirius radio program where he interviews those in the soap world including actors, writers, some who give commentary on the soaps. Well yesterday he had a fan phone in show where fans could posit questions to him about upcoming plots and or major complaints about the direction their shows were going in. I was able to call in and ask some questions regarding Ted’s future on the show. Dan told me that in the next two weeks during sweeps, Tomas’ connection to Llanview would become known and we’d finally find out where he fits in the whole scheme. I’ve been able to download the MP3 of the show. I can post my portion upon request. I also asked questions about Ted’s former GENERAL HOSPITAL co-stars, Tamara Braun (Carly Corinthos) and Stephen Nichols (Stefan Cassadine).

NEW ROLE FOR TED KING

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

EW magazine is apparently reporting and SoapCentral is confirming, that Ted has signed with the ABC soap opera ONE LIFE TO LIVE as an unnamed character to be involved with the character of Blair played by Kassie DePavia. Ted’s first airdate has been scheduled for January 21, 2011. My guess it’s so he and Maya and Ava can make the move to New York where OLTL is taped. This is very good news for Ted’s fans as we get him back on our screens. Keep an eye out here for more news as it’s reported. And don’t fear, I’ll be doing up Ted’s episodes for the site. Whew, between Ted and Stephen Nichols who’s currently playing uber-tycoon Tucker McCall on the soap opera THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, I’ll be one busy girl. Now if Tamara Braun decided to come back to daytime, I’d really be snookered.
